Get your free estimateClopay Opener Logic Board Repair: The Tampa Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Clopay-compatible opener logic boards across Tampa, with most replacements running $120 to $320 installed, parts included. Same-day service is available in most cases since we keep common Clopay board versions on the truck. Most homeowners call us after the opener does something strange: it runs when nobody pressed the button, refuses to respond to remotes but works from the wall pad, or works fine for a week then goes dead after a rain storm. If your Clopay opener behaves like it has a mind of its own, the logic board is usually the culprit.

Which Clopay Models This Applies To
Clopay openers are manufactured by LiftMaster under the Clopay label, and the logic boards follow LiftMaster’s platform series. If your opener is a Clopay wall-mount or belt-drive unit from the last 8 to 12 years, it likely uses a board compatible with the LiftMaster Security+ 2.0 or MyQ generation. The board itself is the flat green or black circuit card inside the opener’s top housing, and the part number is printed on a small white sticker right on it, usually beginning with 41A or 041 followed by four digits. Before calling, snap a photo of that sticker with the part number and the opener’s serial plate under the light cover. That tells us exactly which board variant you have, because Clopay units sold in Florida often came with surge-sensitive boards that differ from the same model sold up north. We carry OEM Clopay/LiftMaster boards and a short line of quality aftermarkets we trust for older out-of-production units where OEM stock has dried up. Fernbrook is an independent service provider and not affiliated with Clopay, but our technicians train on Clopay equipment as one of eight major brands.

Signs Your Clopay Opener Logic Board Is Failing
- The opener runs on its own, or the light flickers randomly. A failing board sends phantom signals to the motor. We see this most often after summer lightning strikes in Tampa that induce voltage spikes through the circuit.
- Remotes and keypads stop pairing, or only work from a foot away. The receiver circuit on the board fails independently of the motor controls, so the opener still runs from the wall switch but ignores every remote.
- The opener works, then goes dead and needs a reset. If you unplug it for five minutes and it works again for a day or two, the board’s relay is overheating. It will keep degrading until it stops recovering.
- The MyQ app shows the door offline, even with good Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi module sits on the logic board itself on Clopay openers. When it fails, the opener works normally but stays invisible to the app.
- You hear a click but no movement, or the motor hums for half a second and stops. The board’s power relay sends only partial voltage, and the motor never actually engages. This often gets misdiagnosed as a bad motor, but on Clopay units, the board is the far more common failure point.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For most Clopay logic board replacements in Tampa, you’re looking at $120 to $320 installed. The board itself accounts for $55 to $180 depending on your model series, and the labor runs $65 to $140. Here’s how the range breaks down:
- Basic belt-drive boards (Security+ 2.0, no MyQ): $120 to $190 total
- MyQ-enabled boards (Wi-Fi app control): $180 to $260 total
- Wall-mount units or newer 2020+ boards: $240 to $320 total
Every quote is written down and handed to you before we touch a screw. If the board in your unit is a generation we can source for less than expected, we tell you at the time of the estimate, not after the job. The price you see is the price you pay. Each board replacement carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise, so if the board or our install gives out within a year, we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
The logic board itself is a plug-and-play board swap in most Clopay openers, and some handy homeowners do fine with it. What catches people off guard is the process around the board: discharging the capacitor so the board doesn’t give you a jolt, matching the part to the exact revision, and relearning the opener’s travel limits and force settings afterward so the door doesn’t close too hard. If you get the travel wrong, the door can come down hard enough to hurt someone or damage the door. Jesse Calder and our Tampa crew see at least one DIY board swap each month where the door closes fine but reverses dangerously, because the board was installed but never calibrated. That calibration step is what takes the job from a part swap to a repair done right. If you’d rather have us handle the whole thing, call (850) 831-4801 and we’ll tell you the board price for your model over the phone.
FAQs
A Clopay logic board typically lasts 8 to 12 years, but Tampa’s humidity and frequent summer electrical storms shorten that to 6 to 9 years. Surge damage from lightning is the leading cause of premature board failure here, and it often takes the board but leaves the motor untouched. A whole-home surge protector helps, but nothing stops a direct nearby strike. Call (850) 831-4801 if your opener is misbehaving after a storm.
In almost all cases, no, a failed Clopay logic board is replaced, not repaired. The circuit traces and relays are not serviceable, and component-level board repair costs more than a new board and fails again quickly. We replace with a new or factory-quality board and back it with the 365-Day Done Right Promise. Call us for an exact quote on your model.
Most Clopay logic board replacements take 45 to 75 minutes from start to finish, including removing the old board, installing the replacement, relearning remotes and MyQ, and setting the travel and force limits. We’ll also test the door’s full cycle at least four times to confirm the safety reversal works every time. You’ll be parking inside the same afternoon.
Yes, we stock the most common Clopay board variants on our trucks, especially the Security+ 2.0 and MyQ boards we install most often across Tampa, from Westchase to Seminole Heights. If your unit takes a less common board, we can often source it within 24 hours. Send us a photo of the part number on the existing board and we’ll confirm what we can do before we schedule the visit.
